looking Back

I was searching through my photo’s last night for the 2008 teen break photos i took, but alas after about an hour could not locate them, i really do need to have a better way of organizing the thousands upon thousands of photos i take. Good news was while going through all the folders i came across a few that brought back memories….this one included.

Thought you all might get a kick out of it.

i dont have an itch

A discussion i had the other day regarding the term ‘7 year Itch’ led me to look it up and learn a few things.

The reason this discussion got started was i had NEVER heard of this term…yes i know, i must live in a little bubble somewhere. It amazes me that so many people buy into ‘terms’ that say this will happen, when I know as a Christian i ‘DONT’ have to follow in others footsteps.

13 And the LORD will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them.   Deut 28:13

From the very beginning of our marriage together people would tell us that the first year was going to be the hardest, that after the honeymoon it got rough. We did not buy into that philosophy at ALL…our first year was amazing…and the second, the third, the fourth, fifth, six and now we are on our seventh.

Now i am not saying we didnt have hard times, like living near 2 years with my in-laws that could have drove a sane person nuts, BUT i knew my husband was doing what God wanted him to do

1 Timothy 5:8 (New King James Version)

8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

So yes we have had it rough, but even in the midst of all that turmoil, being pregnant, living in one small room with 2 kids..not having my own home..we would always say to one another ‘years from now we will look back and laugh’

It didnt even take years….and i dont even remember half the things that went on those 2 years…God is so good.

My husband is such a strong influence in my life…challenging me to become a stronger woman and to pursue the things that make me happy

I think that no matter how hard times get in a marriage you have to not turn on each other…Communication is also a vital key to a healthy relationship.

I can honestly say that after 7 years i love my husband MORE than ever…we are still learning about each other, and we both have changed over the years but we are growing together. It does get hard since we are in the ministry…mine mainly raising the children, so there are times i do feel left out and alone, but he always does what he can to get me plugged in. We are a team in every way.

Now, a study suggests that such an itch is often a reality. An evaluation of 93 married couples during their first 10 years of marriage showed two typical periods of decline. (A decline was defined as a decrease in marital quality measured by taking into account passion, satisfaction with the relationship, amount of shared activity, and agreement between the partners.)

(this is the couples own fault…people become selfish wanting what they want and not thinking of the other person and they pull away, when i start to get the poor poor pitiful me’s i try and do something out of the ordinary for Rudy…maybe something i would have done in the first year or while dating…something sweet and in turn it causes him to do sweet things for me)

The marriages started with a bang (with passion usually high), but after the “honeymoon effect” wore off they showed a decrease in overall quality over the first four years. The marriages then tended to stabilize before another decline set in around year eight, says Lawrence A. Kurdek, Ph.D., the study’s author and a psychologist at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

The first decline, Kurdek says, is probably a normal adjustment to new roles; the second decline is often related to the birth of children.

(I dont think we had time for this one)

Couples experiencing the seven year itch disagree with each other more, become less affectionate, share fewer activities, and express overall dissatisfaction with their marriages, says Kurdek, whose study was published in the September 1999 issue of the journal Developmental Psychology.

So you can read all the philosophy books you want and believe it and buy into it and most likely you will end up having those problems, But I on the other hand will choose to have a kingdom marriage and love and believe in my marriage..We do not have to fall into any of those categories and studies…We are soul mates, God had it planned from the very beginning, when my family moved to parker Az, and we met Donna at the library, HE knew her son would be in a band with the man he wanted me to marry when the time was perfectly lined up, we met….and as they say in the movies ‘it was love at first sight’

and They lived Happiely ever after

I found this book on a shelf in my living room, i have no idea where it came from….I started it about 5:30pm last night, and finished it at 4:00pm today. It was really good, a bit of a mystery and suspense.

I enjoyed it.

Daughter Of Fortune

Daughter of Fortune: A Novel (P.S.) Daughter of Fortune: A Novel by Isabel Allende

My review

rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is an Oprah book club book, most of the time she has pretty good books, this is one of them,this was a 447 page book that i devoured in less than a week….The story of a girl brought up one way thinking she knew what she wanted, and when she left her old life to search for her love, her life changed in so many ways, and she found a new way of life. And i would think her life was better for it…

Defiantly one that i didnt want it to end where it did.

Somebody’s Darling

Into a ward of the whitewashed halls,
Where the dead and dying lay,
Wounded by bayonets,shells, and balls,
Somebody's darling was borne one day;

Somebody's darling, so young and brave,
Wearing yet on his pale, sweet face,
Soon to be hid by the dust of the grave,
The lingering light of his boyhood's grace.

Matted and damp are the curls of gold,
Kissing the snow of that fair young brow;
Pale are the lips of delicate mold-
Somebody's darling is dying now.

Back from his beautiful blue-veined brow,
Brush all the wandering waves of gold;
Cross his hands on his bosom now;
Somebody's darling is still and cold.

Kiss him once for somebody's sake,
Murmur a prayer soft and low;
One bright curl from its fair mates take;
They were somebody's pride, you know;

Somebody's hand has rested there;
Was it a Mother's,soft and white?
And have the lips of a sister fair
Been baptized in the waves of light?

God knows best! he was somebody's love:
Somebody wept when he marched away,
Looking so handsome, brave, and grand;
Somebody's kiss on his forehead lay;
Somebody clung to his parting hand.

Somebody's watching and waiting for him,
Yearning to hold him again to her heart;
And there he lies, with his blue eyes dim,
And the smiling, child-like lips apart.

Tenderly bury the fair young dead,
Pausing to drop on his grave a tear;
Carve on the wooden slab at his head,
"Somebody's darling slumbers here."

Sweet things

I know this woman, Peggy Rooney is her name, she is just about the sweetest person you will ever meet, Plus she is an amazing cook, She catered our wedding and made our wedding cake.

Rudy told me that before he met me, when the church would have dinners or anything that the food was pre-made, she always would make things he liked, sandwiches without mayo, things like that.

So sweet

Well a few months ago, her and i were talking about dishes and how much of an addict i am,

I told her my favorite is the classic correl ones, that my Grandma had, cause they remind me of her, and being at her house.

Ever since then whenever she comes to Havasu (she lives in Williams) she brings me bits and pieces of those sets of dishes that she picks up from thrift stores. I have quite the growing collection.

These were my latest pretties.

I love them
